The Swan Inn Mural – Celebrating the Characters of Eaglesham

One of my most enjoyable recent projects was creating a unique mural for the wonderful Swan Inn in Eaglesham. Rather than simply painting the building or its surroundings, the idea behind the piece was to celebrate what truly makes a local pub special – its people.

The mural features a collection of fun caricatures inspired by many of the familiar faces who regularly visit this charming village pub. From long-time locals and well-known personalities to the characters who help create the warm and welcoming atmosphere of The Swan Inn, the artwork captures the spirit and humour that make the pub such an important part of the community.

Creating caricatures is always about more than simply drawing a likeness. It is about capturing personality, expressions and those little traits that make people instantly recognisable to friends and family. Each face in the mural tells its own story and serves as a lasting tribute to the friendships, conversations and memories that have been made within the walls of this much-loved establishment.

Local pubs have always been at the heart of communities, acting as places where people come together to celebrate, share stories and enjoy each other's company. The Swan Inn is no exception. Its charm, character and welcoming atmosphere made it the perfect subject for a community-focused piece of artwork.

The project was a real pleasure to work on, and it was fantastic to see the reactions from the locals as they searched for familiar faces and discovered themselves and their friends within the mural. The smiles, laughter and conversations sparked by the artwork perfectly reflected the community spirit that inspired the piece in the first place.

I hope the mural will continue to bring enjoyment to visitors for many years to come, serving as both a celebration of The Swan Inn and a colourful snapshot of the people who help make it such a special place in the heart of Eaglesham.
