Creating Personal Pieces That Last a Lifetime
There is something incredibly rewarding about creating a piece of artwork that has been designed especially for one person. Every commission is unique, with its own story, memories and personality, making it one of the most enjoyable parts of being an artist.
Whether it's a birthday surprise, wedding gift, retirement present, anniversary or simply a special treat for yourself, commissioned artwork offers something that you simply can't buy off the shelf. It becomes a one-of-a-kind piece that can be treasured for years to come.
Turning Ideas into Artwork
One of the questions I'm asked most often is, "Can you draw...?" The answer is usually yes!
Many commissions begin with a simple conversation. A customer might have an idea for a favourite hobby, a beloved pet, a family member, a sports hero or even a humorous scene they would like brought to life. Together we develop the concept until it becomes a finished piece of art.
Some customers know exactly what they want, while others simply give me a theme and allow me to add my own creative twist. Both approaches are equally enjoyable and often produce fantastic results.
Cartoons, Caricatures and Fine Art
Over the years I have created a wide variety of commissioned artwork including:
Full Colour Cartoons and Caricatures
Family Portraits
Pet Portraits
Wedding and Anniversary Gifts
Retirement Presents
Sports-Themed Artwork
Music and Film Inspired Pieces
Acrylic and Palette Knife Paintings
Humorous Personalised Illustrations
Every commission is individually created, ensuring no two pieces are ever the same.
The Perfect Gift
Finding a meaningful gift isn't always easy, especially for someone who seems to have everything.
A commissioned artwork is personal, thoughtful and completely unique. By including favourite places, memorable moments, hobbies or inside jokes, the finished artwork often tells a story that means far more than a traditional gift.
One of the greatest compliments I receive is when customers tell me the artwork made someone laugh, smile or even shed a few happy tears.
A Collaborative Process
Creating commissioned artwork is very much a collaboration between artist and customer.
Throughout the process I keep in touch, discuss ideas where needed and ensure the finished artwork captures exactly what was imagined. My aim is always to create something that exceeds expectations while maintaining my distinctive bold, colourful and fun style.
Seeing the reactions when customers collect their artwork or send me photographs after giving it as a gift makes all the hard work worthwhile.
Planning Ahead
Although commissions are accepted throughout the year, certain occasions can become particularly busy.
Christmas is always one of the most popular times for personalised artwork, so it is well worth getting in touch early if you are considering a special gift. Planning ahead allows plenty of time to discuss ideas and complete the artwork without any last-minute rush.
Of course, commissioned artwork isn't just for Christmas. Birthdays, weddings, engagements, retirements, graduations and anniversaries are all wonderful occasions to celebrate with a bespoke piece of art.
