Originally created in 2015, The World of Roald Dahl mural at East Kilbride Arts Centre has remained a distinctive and much-loved feature within the space. Inspired by the imagination, humour, and slightly mischievous spirit of Roald Dahl’s storytelling, the mural was designed to bring a sense of narrative play and visual excitement into the arts centre environment.

This large-scale mural project was created as a celebration of the Commonwealth Games, bringing together sport, Scottish landscape, and community participation into one unified artwork.

There’s something special in the air right now… the world is buzzing with the excitement of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and with the energy building for the upcoming Commonwealth Games, it feels like sport is bringing people together in a way only great events can.
