A Fantastic Day of Art, Caricatures and Comic Book Legends

Perth Comic Con by BGCP once again proved to be one of the highlights of my events calendar, bringing together comic book fans, movie enthusiasts, cosplayers and collectors for an unforgettable day at the Dewars Centre in Perth. The venue was buzzing from the moment the doors opened, with visitors travelling from across Scotland to celebrate everything from superheroes and horror icons to anime, gaming and pop culture.

This year I had a fantastic stand showcasing a wide selection of my original artwork, open edition prints and fan art. It was great to see so many people stopping by to browse the collection, chat about art and pick up a few favourite pieces to take home.

One of the busiest parts of my stand was my live caricature and cartoon drawing.

Throughout the day I was creating personalised portraits for visitors, offering both full-colour digital caricatures and traditional black and white drawings. The full-colour versions proved especially popular, with families, couples and cosplay fans all wanting a unique keepsake from the convention. Watching each drawing come to life while people gathered around is always one of my favourite parts of attending Comic Cons.

Alongside the live commissions, I had a selection of my original artwork on display, including my painting of Scotland football hero John McGinn, my dramatic portraits of Christopher Lee as Dracula and Peter Cushing as Dr Frankenstein, together with a collection of Iron Maiden Eddie paintings that attracted plenty of attention from rock and metal fans. It was brilliant hearing everyone's stories about their favourite films, bands and characters while discussing the inspiration behind each piece.

Comic Cons are about much more than buying artwork. They're a chance to meet people who share a passion for creativity, movies, comics and gaming. Whether someone was dressed as a superhero, a Star Wars character or a horror icon, there was a real sense of community throughout the weekend. The standard of cosplay was incredible once again, making the event a photographer's dream as well as an artist's.

I'd like to thank everyone who stopped by my stand, purchased artwork or commissioned a caricature. Your support allows me to continue creating new paintings, travelling to events around Scotland and meeting so many wonderful people along the way. It's always a pleasure catching up with returning customers while also meeting plenty of new faces.
