Introducing Arttoons and Afterthoughts — A Journey Through Creativity, Colour, and Imagination
As an artist, I’ve always believed that art should be accessible, enjoyable, and above all, make people feel something. Over the years, I’ve explored many different styles and subjects, from fine art landscapes and portraits to murals, commissions, and live events. But one collection has always held a special place in my creative journey — Arttoons.
Today, I’m excited to share something very personal and creative with you: Arttoons and Afterthoughts — a book that brings together some of my favourite original creations, alongside the stories, ideas, and inspirations behind them.
What Are Arttoons?
Arttoons are exactly what they sound like — art with attitude, humour, imagination, and personality. They sit somewhere between illustration, painting, and storytelling, combining my love of bold colours, playful design, and a slightly quirky way of seeing the world.
From Tartan Tuffy, my little Clyde Puffer Boat full of character, to magical mystery buses inspired by music legends, fun takes on everyday life, and commissioned creations that turn ideas into colourful visual stories — Arttoons allow me to let creativity run wild.
They are designed to make people smile.
The Story Behind Afterthoughts
While the Arttoons themselves are vibrant, energetic, and often humorous, Afterthoughts gives readers something extra.
This part of the book dives deeper into the creative process — the ideas that sparked each piece, the stories behind the characters, the inspiration drawn from Scottish culture, music, people, and the little observations that often become the starting point for something unexpected.
It’s about showing that every piece of art has a journey behind it.
Sometimes the finished painting is only half the story.
More Than Just a Book
For me, Arttoons and Afterthoughts is more than simply a collection of artwork.
It represents years of experimentation, imagination, and a desire to create art that feels approachable and fun while still carrying meaning and personality.
I’ve always believed that art doesn’t need to sit quietly on a gallery wall. It can make people laugh, spark memories, tell stories, and connect with people in unexpected ways.
This book captures that philosophy perfectly.
A Celebration of Big, Bold, Beautiful Creativity
If you’ve followed my work for any length of time, you’ll know I’m passionate about creating Big, Bold, and Beautiful Art that people from all backgrounds can enjoy.
Arttoons and Afterthoughts celebrates that idea — combining creativity, humour, storytelling, and colour into something that I hope people will connect with, whether they are art lovers, collectors, or simply people who enjoy seeing the world through a more imaginative lens.
This is a project I’m incredibly proud of, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
Watch this space… there’s plenty more creativity still to come.
