Inverness Comic Con

One of My Best Events Yet!

There are some events that leave you smiling all the way home, and Inverness Comic Con was definitely one of them.

From the moment the doors opened at Inverness Leisure Centre, the atmosphere was fantastic. The crowds were through the doors early and before long my stand was surrounded by people looking through my latest original artwork, choosing prints and, of course, queuing for one of my live full-colour cartoons and caricatures.

I've attended many Comic Cons over the years, but this has to rank as one of my best events. The demand for live drawings was incredible, with customers eager to have their own personalised artwork created. It was brilliant seeing so many familiar faces returning for another picture, while meeting lots of new customers who were discovering my work for the very first time.

Alongside the live commissions, my range of original artwork and prints proved incredibly popular. My latest Deadpool and Ladypool piece, inspired by the recent San Diego Comic-Con reveal, attracted plenty of attention, while many visitors enjoyed browsing my collection of fan art featuring film, television and music legends. It was especially rewarding knowing that so many pieces will now be hanging on walls in homes across Scotland and beyond.

One of the biggest challenges of the day was actually finding time to film! I had planned to create plenty of content for my YouTube channel, showing the atmosphere of the convention, the artwork on display and some of the live drawings in progress. However, every time I reached for my camera another customer was waiting for a commission or asking about a print. Before I knew it, the day had flown by and I'd captured far less footage than I had hoped. In fairness, that's a great problem to have!

The overwhelming support throughout the day was simply amazing. Whether you commissioned a caricature, purchased an original painting, picked up a print, bought one of my books, or simply stopped by for a chat, thank you. Your encouragement and enthusiasm mean so much and make every mile travelled to these events worthwhile.

I'd also like to thank BGCP Comic Con who organised the Event, it was another brilliantly run event. The venue was buzzing from start to finish and it was wonderful to be part of such a welcoming community of artists, exhibitors, cosplayers and comic book fans.

Now it's back to the studio to complete all the new commissions that came from the weekend before preparing for the next event. Judging by the success of Inverness Comic Con, the rest of the year has a lot to live up to!
