New Fan Art

It’s been another busy spell in the studio, and I’m delighted to be taking five brand-new pieces of Fan Art out on the road with me over the coming weeks.

From superheroes and supervillains to horror icons, cult movie characters and one of the greatest country music stars of all time, this latest collection brings together some very different worlds — but they all have one thing in common: I love turning the characters and people we know into my own style of art.

The five new originals are Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Fredbear, David from The Lost Boys, and Dolly Parton.

They'll be making their first appearances at Dundee Comic Con, before heading back to East Kilbride for the Blackheart Market, where I'll be bringing along even more Horror, Gothic and Alternative-inspired work.

First up is one of the most recognisable superheroes of all time — Spiderman.

There is something wonderfully visual about Spider-Man as a subject for an artist. The costume, the webbing, the pose and that unmistakable mask all lend themselves perfectly to a bold piece of Fan Art.

I've aimed to capture that sense of movement and energy that makes Spider-Man such an enduring character, while putting my own Arttoon spin on the subject.

From hero to villain, Doctor Doom was another character I couldn't resist bringing to life.

Doom has such an iconic visual identity that you really don't need much introduction. The armour, mask and imposing presence make him a fantastic subject for a big, bold Fan Art piece.

He's one of those characters where the challenge isn't simply drawing the character — it's trying to capture the personality and presence behind the mask.

Things take a darker turn with Fredbear.

For those who enjoy my Horror and alternative artwork, this is definitely one to look out for. Fredbear has become an instantly recognisable character, and I wanted to embrace the darker side of the character rather than simply producing a straightforward portrait.

This one should fit right in at the Blackheart Market!

If you're a fan of cult 1980s horror, then you'll probably recognise David from The Lost Boys.

The Lost Boys is one of those films that has developed a huge following over the years, and David is an unforgettable character.

I love creating Fan Art from films that have become part of popular culture, particularly when the characters have such a strong visual identity. There's something about taking a character from a film and reinterpreting them as a piece of artwork rather than simply reproducing a film still.

And then there's Dolly Parton!

Dolly might seem like a bit of a departure from Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Fredbear and David — and that's exactly why I wanted to include her.

My Fan Art isn't restricted to one genre. I enjoy moving between film, television, comics, horror, music and popular culture, and Dolly Parton is such an instantly recognisable personality that she was a natural choice.

From her music and songwriting to her unmistakable look and personality, there is plenty to work with when creating a Dolly-inspired artwork.

From the Studio to the Comic Con

All five of these pieces have been created as part of my continuing Fan Art work.

I've been creating Fan Art for many years, covering everything from Marvel and DC to Horror, Film & Television, Rock Legends and cult characters. It's one of the areas of my work where I can really have fun experimenting with different subjects and styles.

And, as always, these aren't simply images produced and forgotten about online. I love taking my artwork out to events, meeting the people who enjoy the same films, characters, music and stories that inspire me, and seeing people's reactions to the originals.

That's what makes Comic Cons and alternative events so much fun.

First Stop: Dundee Comic Con

The new collection will be heading to Dundee Comic Con, where I'll be bringing along my latest Fan Art, prints, original artwork, books and plenty more.

I'll also have artwork from some of my other favourite subjects, so if you've seen my work online but haven't had the chance to see it in person, this is a great opportunity to have a look.

And of course, I'll be there as an artist rather than just a visitor — so come along, say hello and have a chat about the artwork.

Then It's Blackheart Market in East Kilbride

After Dundee, the artwork will be heading home to East Kilbride for Blackheart Market.

Blackheart Market is all about Horror, Gothic and Alternative Culture, making it a very different atmosphere from a traditional Comic Con — and one that is perfect for some of my darker Fan Art.

I'll be bringing my Original Horror Art and Prints, along with the new work, and who knows... I might even be persuaded to create some suitably horrible artwork while I'm there!

❤️ Art for Fans, by a Fan

For me, Fan Art is about celebrating the things that inspire us.

Whether that's a superhero like Spider-Man, a comic-book villain like Doctor Doom, a horror character like Fredbear or David, or a musical legend like Dolly Parton, these are characters and personalities that have become part of our shared popular culture.

I love taking those familiar faces and stories and turning them into something that feels like my artwork.

So if you're heading to Dundee Comic Con or Blackheart Market in East Kilbride, keep an eye out for these five new pieces.

Spider-Man. Doctor Doom. Fredbear. David. Dolly Parton.

Five very different subjects.

One very busy studio!

And, as always...

Tell a Story with an Image.
