The Rotten Calder River-The Wild Flow of Time
Through the heart of Calderglen Country Park, the Rotten Calder River carves its way—an untamed ribbon of water twisting through ancient woodlands and moss-covered stone. My brushwork captures its movement, the rich layers of acrylic, giving it weight, texture, and life.
The river is restless yet rhythmic, curling around worn rocks, rushing over hidden falls, whispering against the banks where time has shaped the land. Deep shadows stretch beneath the trees, their branches bending to frame the water's path, while the earthy tones of the forest seep into the scene—a symphony of greens, ochres, and muted golds. The reflections in the current dance between light and darkness, a fleeting moment frozen upon the canvas.
Mist lingers in the air, a ghostly presence softening the edges of the woodland beyond, merging land and water in a quiet embrace. Here, Calderglen’s beauty is not only seen but felt—a place where nature hums, where history flows in the currents, where the river carries both secrets and stories in its endless journey through time.
