A colourful representation of a famous Landmark off the Ayrshire Coast.
Ailsa Craig is an island in the outer Firth of Clyde upon which "blue hone" microgranite has been quarried to make curling stones. The uninhabited island and shares the same rocks on the nearby Isle of Arran.
The island is colloquially known as "Paddy's milestone" and was a haven for Catholics during the Scottish Reformation in the 16th century. Today the island is a bird sanctuary, providing a home for huge numbers of gannets and an increasing number of puffins.
